Hello! I'm Teneal, an HPCSA registered Clinical Psychologist dedicated to providing high quality mental health care. Whether you are looking to enhance wellbeing or find relief from mild to severe mental illness, there is space for you here!
My platform aims to make therapy easy and accessible for you, allowing you to meet in the comfort of your own home or a dedicated private space in Gardens, Cape Town.
A few highlights:
-
MHSc (Masters) in Clinical Psychology (Cum Laude).
-
My research is recently published in the Mindfulness Journal.
-
I have worked in varied clinical settings, offering therapeutic and forensic services across psychiatric hospitals, community clinics, dedicated child and family units, and outpatient therapeutic services.
-
I particularly enjoy working with eating disorders, mood and anxiety disorders, trauma-related difficulties, and processes that require a journey of growth and healing.
Our lived stories, our untold stories, our yet to become stories - all of this matters to me because it is who you are, the root of suffering, and the answer to meaningful change. I follow an integrative therapeutic style, understanding that experiences are truly unique, and therefore, change and healing requires collaboration and a holistic approach suited to your needs and preferences.
My practice offers a free 15-minute introductory call. This call aims to work together to briefly understand your preferences and needs, and naturally, ease the anxiety of starting this therapeutic journey. Head to the booking section to take your first step.
We can help you with:
Individual Therapy
With the privacy of one-on-one sessions, individual therapy involves an in-depth exploration of unique life circumstances and difficulties to discover the root of suffering, improve self-awareness, and ultimately lead to a greater sense of fulfilment or healing. Kintsugi, a Japanese art-form, roughly translates to 'joining with gold', which aims to restore broken ceramics. Similarly, individual therapy transforms what might seem broken in one's life into a source of strength and beauty. While we cannot discard our past, we can find meaning and healing therein. Start your journey by heading to the booking section.
Express Therapy
There is no such thing as a quick fix, but sometimes all you need is a fresh perspective from a qualified professional for clarity to make self-directed changes. These services refer to a single 50-minute session to exclusively focus on a specific issue that requires support, validation, and clarity. This includes a safe space to explore a difficult period, major life changes or decisions, making sense of emotions and experiences, specific questions and objectives, and ultimately to gain new perspectives and clarity. Head to the bookings section and select the Online Express Therapy option.
Couples Therapy
The triadic space, couples therapy, is a process between you (the couple) and the therapist. This is suitable for relationships experiencing conflict, communication barriers, sexual/intimacy problems, big life transitions, including many other relationship stressors. Couples therapy allows you (the couple) to improve communication skills, repair old wounds, reconnect, and redefine the relationship. Start your journey by heading to the booking section.
